Being the Villain in Someone Else's Story
Are you okay with knowing that you are playing the villain in someone else’s story?
I love the quote: “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world but there’ll always be someone who hates peaches.”
✨ THIS IS THE TRUTH ✨
I know that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. And I promise, Superstar, neither are you.
Yet there’s room for all of us to take up space in the world just as we are. Someone else’s story about you is really none of your business. Believing you need to fix it will only create suffering.
Freedom is knowing that this is an inevitability in life, because we can’t possibly please everyone.
If someone can’t stand you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re a screw-up or that you should have behaved any differently in your interactions with them. (This is not to say that you shouldn’t apologize and be accountable when you’ve made a mistake - I should hope that goes without saying…).
This is about accepting that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, there are people who are going to believe certain negative things about you, and it is your job to put one foot in front of the other with your head held high regardless.
Freedom is knowing who you are, living a life in line with your values, and simultaneously allowing others to believe that you are just simply the WORST.
So adjust your crown, and keep it moving.
In solidarity and with so much love,
